Once again, we are looking for local arts and culture professionals, creative organizations, and businesses to host events during the 13th annual Culture Days from Sept. 23 to Oct. 16, 2022. This national initiative aims to raise awareness, provide accessibility and encourage participation in the arts and cultural life of Burlington. Burlington artists, community groups and arts and cultural organizations can participate in Culture Days and offer free interactive arts and cultural activities. Culture Days organizers include a full range of cultural creators - from grassroots community volunteers and independent artists to major arts, culture, and heritage organizations.
Culture Days is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a national network of cultural connections devoted to providing Canadians with opportunities to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of art and culture. Culture Days promotes free, hands-on, interactive activities that invite the public to participate behind-the-scenes to discover the world of artists, creators, historians, architects, curators, designers and other creative people in Burlington.
The City of Burlington is inviting residents to join local artists, cultural professionals and creative organizations to attend free, interactive in-person or online events and activities during the 13th annual Culture Days from Sept. 23 to Oct. 16, 2022. Culture Days has become the largest cultural event in Canada, attracting an estimated 2.5 million annual attendees to thousands of free activities and performances hosted by artists, cultural organizations and municipalities in hundreds of communities across Canada.
This year’s theme Re:emergence, explores new ideas and innovation in arts and culture while committing to building tangible change in the sector and society. As we learn to live with COVID-19, the Ontario Culture Days Festival will offer a hybrid of in-person events as well as digital and self-guided programming. The City of Burlington’s public art program is also launching a temporary art project. Throughout the Culture Days celebration, the public art program will be installing temporary artworks on signs along the Waterfront Trail, near Beachway Park. The signs will feature the work of twenty local visual artists and writers. This project will provide trail users with a safe and accessible way to enjoy art and to learn more about the amazing creators in our community.
Culture Days - a national, non-profit organization celebrating arts and culture - has ranked Burlington's 2021 Culture Days celebration 7th overall nationwide among cities with a population between 50,000-500,000. This ranking helps us know that Burlington is a champion for arts and culture. In 2021, hundreds of cities, towns, and regions of all sizes embraced Culture Days to spark creativity, build community and showcase their local talent and cultural assets.
