Notice of intention to repeal and replace Procedural By-law 031-2021

In accordance with the Public Notice Policy, The Corporation of the City of Burlington hereby gives notice of its intention to repeal and replace Procedural By-law 031-2021 as amended. The by-law will be reviewed at a Committee of the Whole meeting held on September 9, 2024 and subsequent meetings to ensure that it best supports good governance in the City.

Committee of the Whole will be held on Monday September 9th 2023 at 9:30 a.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 426 Brant St., Burlington, with members and staff participating in-person or remotely via Zoom. Staff directions resulting from this meeting will be brought forward to a future Council meeting. Further notice will be provided when additional information is available.

Burlington, Ont. — Aug. 28, 2024 — City of Burlington administrative services will be closed for Labour Day on Monday, Sept. 2. For a list of which City services and facilities are available on the long weekend, please see the summary below or visit burlington.ca.

Fireworks reminder
Fireworks are not permitted to be set off on Labour Day. The City's bylaw allows family (low-hazard) fireworks to be set off on Canada Day and Victoria Day only. More information about who to contact if you have a personal safety concern related to the use of fireworks is available at burlington.ca/fireworks.

Burlington residents invited to engage on 2025 Budget

Burlington, Ont.—Aug. 22, 2024— Preparation for the 2025 budget is underway, with all residents and business owners invited to provide their input. The City's public engagement opportunities include pre-budget consultation sessions hosted by Mayor Meed Ward, an online survey, a telephone town hall, Council and Committee of the Whole meetings, a Get Involved Burlington webpage, and the Food for Feedback event on Sept 14, 2024.

Each year, the City of Burlington reviews the annual budget to make sure the City has the funds needed for city operations, programs and services. These investments maintain a high quality of life for Burlington residents and businesses.

This year, there are four main principles to help balance today’s expenses while investing in our future: 

  • Affordability 
  • Livability 
  • Sustainability 
  • Transparency 

Residents and business owners are also invited to share their input at the in-person Food for Feedback event on Sept. 14, 2024.

Notice of decision for Official Plan Amendment 152

With respect to an Official Plan Amendment, Subsection 17(34) of the Planning Act
Date of decision: Aug. 7, 2024
Date of notice: Aug. 15, 2024
Last date of appeal: Sept. 4, 2024
A decision was made on the date noted above to approve Amendment No. 152 to the Official Plan of the City of Burlington. Purpose and effect of the amendment The purpose of this Amendment is to change the land use designation on the subject lands from Mixed-Use Corridor – Employment to Mixed-Use Corridor – General with site-specific policy to permit the development of a public park, one building with a height of 17 storeys containing residential and non-residential uses, one multi-unit residential building
with maximum height of 21 storeys, and a possible additional multi-unit residential building with maximum height of 12 storeys (maximum heights include rooftop mechanical and amenity area) at 1393 Graham's Lane. The proposal will provide up to 722 dwelling units and will have a maximum Floor Area Ratio of 5.4:1.
