The City of Burlington is constructing a leash-free area in Pathfinder Park. The new leash-free area will be located at the back of the park along the path.

Project update

The opening of the Pathfinder Park Leash-Free Area is delayed until the area can be brought up to standard, such as regrading and reducing the gaps in the fence so small and medium size dogs can’t easily escape. We are expecting the leash free area to be open this fall.

Skyway Community Centre and Park Construction Project

Skyway Park

In order to accommodate the improvements at the community centre, Skyway Park will also be redesigned to include a natural playground and one baseball diamond.

Some of the new or improved items include:

• New 275’ baseball diamond with backstop, line fence, irrigation, dugouts, player’s benches and bleachers
• Natural children’s play area
• Gathering areas with seating and shade structure
• Accessible pathways

The park will be closed until the project is complete in 2025.

Appleby Creek Flood Mitigation Municipal Class Environmental Assessment - Addendum

The Appleby Creek Flood Mitigation Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (ACFMEA) Study was completed in February 2019. The ACFMEA study evaluated alternative solutions along Appleby Creek, from New Street to the GO Transit Rail corridor (near Appleby Go Train Station), to identify specific opportunities to reduce flooding risk and protect the natural heritage features and functions within the study corridor. The ACFMEA recommended preferred solutions for three flood-vulnerable areas within the study corridor.

What to expect during construction

• The park will be closed during the construction period.
• For your safety, it will be necessary to secure the entire park with security fencing during construction.
