The Director of Community Planning of the City of Burlington approved amending By-law 2020.517 under delegated authority on May 5, 2026 for housekeeping purposes to ensure clarity and to assist in the consistent interpretation and application of the City’s Zoning Bylaws.
The effect of By-law 2020.517 is to amend Zoning By-law 2020, as amended, by adding references to the new residential zones in Zoning By-law 09-2026 to ensure the bylaw is clear and consistent.
Notice of the proposed bylaw was published on the City’s webpage on April 13, 2026. A commenting period was open from April 13, 2026 to May 4, 2026. No comments were received.

Any appeals to the proposed bylaw amendment must be filed with the City Clerk either via the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) e-file service (first-time users will need to register for a My Ontario Account) at https://olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service by selecting Burlington (City) - Clerk as the Approval Authority or by mail: City Clerk, City of Burlington, 426 Brant St., P.O. Box 5013, Burlington, ON L7R 3Z6; must set out the reasons for the appeal; and must be accompanied by the fee required by the OLT. The last day for filing a notice of appeal is no later than 4:30 p.m. on May 28, 2026.
Only individuals, corporations and public bodies may appeal a bylaw to the OLT. A notice of appeal may not be filed by an unincorporated association or group. However, a notice of appeal may be filed in the name of an individual who is a member of the association or the group on its behalf.
No person or public body shall be added as a party to the hearing of the appeal unless, before the bylaw was passed, the person or public body made oral submissions at a public meeting or written submissions to the Director of Community Planning or, in the opinion of the OLT, there are reasonable grounds to add the person or public body as a party.
