Order Transcripts and Audio Recordings

You can order transcripts and digital audio recordings of court proceedings with Halton Court Services (HCS).

Please request by email courtsupport@burlington.ca or in person at 4085 Palladium Way. Third party transcription services are not used for HCS transcript production.

Ordering a transcript

If you wish to file an appeal or make a charter application, you will need three copies of the transcript of court proceedings.

To order an original transcript, please follow the steps below.

  1. Obtain a Transcript Order Form for Defendants or Transcript Order Form for Paralegals by contacting CourtSupport@burlington.ca.
  2. Submit your completed transcript order from by emailing CourtSupport@burlington.ca or in-person at our provincial offences office.
  3. Our courtroom monitor will provide a deposit estimate within two weeks of the order date.
  4. Pay the deposit amount provided. After receiving the deposit, the transcript order is placed in queue for production. We will contact you when the order is complete and the transcript is ready for in-person pickup. This is usually within three months of ordering. We will also provide information on any balance or refund that may be owed. Refunds are given in cash when you pick up your transcript.
Payments, cancellation and refunds

We require full payment for all outstanding invoices after you complete a transcript order, even if the transcript is no longer required for any reason. You must provide cancellation requests in writing by email at CourtSupport@burlington.ca, or in-person. We will provide a full refund if the order has not been processed.

We make all efforts to collect overdue transcript fees, including reporting to collection agencies and the Law Society of Ontario in the case of lawyers and paralegals.

Ordering a digital audio recording

To order a digital audio recording of court proceedings, please follow the steps below.

  1. Complete a Digital Court Recording Order Form.
  2. Prepare a minimum deposit of $100 for the time of ordering.
  3. Submit your order form and pay the deposit amount by email at CourtSupport@burlington.ca or in-person at our provincial offences office.
  4. We will contact you when the digital audio recording is complete and ready for in-person pickup. This is usually within three months of ordering. We will also provide information on any balance or refund that may be owed. Refunds are given in cash when you pick up your recording.

Windows 7 and above, and Adobe Reader 10 and above are required to listen to the court recording in audio CD format.

Access policies and restrictions

All orders for digital audio recordings are subject to the Ontario Court of Justice's access policies.

The presiding judicial officer may expand or restrict access to the recordings in any proceedings before them. Recordings may not be available for some proceedings unless otherwise ordered by the judicial officer.
