Work to renovate the main floor of City Hall is complete. The new open space provides easy access to customer service counters for Service Burlington and Building, Renovating and Licensing, as of July 11, 2013.
The City Hall Modernization Project is one of 22 recommendations from the Red Tape Red Carpet Task Force report, and was approved by City Council in September 2019. In keeping with the City’s focus on customer experience, this project will create a more open, customer-facing area on the first floor of City Hall.

Features of the main floor design include:
- a new 40-foot bridge across the opening of the Atrium with glass railings
- a wider entrance from Locust Street with sliding doors for improved accessibility
- a light-filled lobby featuring a larger, furnished customer area that can double as a space for City events as required
- customer service counters with adjustable height, for improved accessibility
Drop box
- The drop box located at the Locust Street entrance has re-opened. A second drop box located at 390 Brant St. beside City Hall is also available. The box is located on the side entrance to this building on Elgin Street, between Coffee Culture and SB Prime restaurant.

City Hall renovation is progressing on schedule with completion scheduled for spring 2023.
Service Burlington is still temporarily located on the third floor of 390 Brant St. The location is directly south of City Hall across the street and can be accessed by customers from the entrance off of Elgin Street. The relocation of Service Burlington is being made to limit the disruption experienced by customers visiting the Service Burlington counter during the construction currently underway at City Hall. During the construction, it is still easy to connect with the City by calling 905-335-7777 or emailing city@burlington.ca to receive service. Many City service payments are also available online at burlington.ca/onlineservices. |
