Burlington, Ont.— Feb. 14, 2025— The City of Burlington has declared a Significant Weather Event with respect to the forecasted winter storm for this weekend. The Significant Weather Event declaration starts at 6 a.m. on Feb. 15 and will continue until further notice. This declaration suspends standard timelines for winter maintenance service, allowing City crews the flexibility to prioritize winter response activities due to the large amount of snow accumulation expected this weekend. It also suspends on-street parking permits until the Significant Weather Event is declared over. Residents are asked to be patient and know that roads and sidewalks will be cleared as soon as possible.
A Significant Weather Event is a declaration by the City of Burlington to recognize that an approaching or active weather event has the potential to pose a significant threat to users of City roadways, sidewalks, pathways, and bike lanes. Community members are asked to monitor weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during inclement weather periods. Anyone using roads and sidewalks in the city is advised to exercise caution.
As part of the Significant Weather Event, a Snow Event has been declared and on-street parking is cancelled as of 6 p.m., Feb. 15. until the event is declared over.
Residents are reminded that any weather-related facility closures will be posted at burlington.ca/facilityclosures.
