Burlington City Council refused an application to amend Zoning Bylaw 2020, as amended, on April 21, 2026, under Section 34 of the Planning Act, 1990, as amended. File number: 520-01/26 (DGM-26-26) (Bousfields Inc., representing 2735843 ONTARIO INC., 2060188 ONTARIO INC., 2735841 ONTARIO INC., 2059977 ONTARIO INC.).
The application requested that 1056-1060 Brant St. be rezoned to permit an 11-storey residential building (plus mechanical penthouse) with 93 residential units.
The reasons for Council's refusal are that the proposed development does not conform to the policies of the Provincial Policy Statement 2024, City of Burlington Official Plan and the City of Burlington Zoning Bylaw, and represents overdevelopment of the subject lands.
Public consultation on the proposed Zoning Bylaw Amendment was provided between Jan. 29, 2026 and Feb. 13, 2026. As a result of public consultation, the City received six public comments, one delegation at the Statutory Public meeting held on April 14, 2026, and no delegations at the Council meeting held on April 21, 2026. Comments received were considered as part of Development and Growth Management report DGM-26-26 and Council’s decision-making process.
For further information about the development please contact Benjamin Kissner of the Community Planning Department at benjamin.kissner@burlington.ca.
