“Remembrance Day is a solemn occasion to honour the courageous men and women who have served and sacrificed to safeguard our freedom and democracy. It invites us to reflect on their unwavering bravery, dedication, and the ultimate sacrifices made in the name of peace. Their legacy endures in the bonds we've forged with our twin cities—Itabashi, a testament to our commitment to a world where no one suffers the horrors of war, and Apeldoorn, where the memories of Canadian troops liberating their homeland from tyranny are cherished. Today, we also express our gratitude to those who continue to serve, ensuring that their sacrifices were not in vain.”
“I welcome everyone to participate in the service, either in person or online. By remembering, we pay tribute to members of the Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP who served to defend our values and freedoms. We also honour those who continue to serve our country today."
